The working principle of the fan is to increase the gas pressure and discharge the gas by relying on the input mechanical energy. Specifically, the fan is a machine that converts the mechanical energy of the prime mover into gas energy. From the energy point of view, it is a machine that converts the mechanical energy of rotation into gas pressure energy and kinetic energy and transports the gas out. When processing, the gas is usually treated as an incompressible fluid, and high and low pressures are used to control the gas flow and direction.

Different types of fans, such as ventilators, blowers, wind turbines, etc., although the specific structures and application scenarios are different, the basic working principles are similar. For example, the blower relies on the eccentric operation of the offset rotor in the cylinder to change the volume between the blades in the rotor slot, thereby inhaling, compressing, and spitting out air. Wind turbines, on the other hand, convert wind energy into mechanical work, which drives the rotor to rotate and finally outputs alternating current.
